Vernita Todd, a native of Tennessee, joined San Ysidro (Calif.) Health in February 2019 as Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. In this role, she leads SYHealth in identifying, aligning and executing strategic opportunities for growth; formalizing the company’s strategic planning process and translating it across various business lines, departments, clinics and functions. Prior to joining SYHealth, Vernita was the Chief Experience Officer for Health Center Partners of Southern California, a consortium of 17 federally qualified health centers. Previously, Todd served 10 years as CEO of the Heart City Health Center in Elkhart, Indiana. In the spring of 2021, Vernita was senate confirmed and appointed as a Trustee to the state’s Health Education Professions Foundation (HPEF) by the California Senate Rules Committee – a body historically used to determine loan repayment policies, funding and opportunities for the provider community of California.

Todd holds a master’s degree of business administration from Davenport University, a master’s degree in organizational communication and behavior, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Murray State University, KY. Vernita is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
